Oracle Enterprise Manager Agent Upgrade from 10.2.0.5 to 11.1.0.1 using response file

Environment:

This is a 2 node RAC cluster. Task is to upgrade the agent to 11.1.0.1 to address certain issues we were having with 10.2.0.5 agent.

Note: 11.1.0.1 EM Agent is certified to work with 10.2.0.5 OMS.

I’m going to backup the current EM Agent 10.2.0.5 home to a shared location available on my servers.

cd /export/oracle/product/10.2.0/agent10g

There are multiple approaches for installing/ upgrading Enterprise Manager Grid Control Agent. Refer to ‘Oracle® Enterprise Manager Grid Control Advanced Installation and Configuration Guide’ available at the following location. I will be following the procedure listed in ‘Upgrading Oracle Management Agent Using a Response File’

Navigate to the following location and edit the response file upgrade_agent.rsp. Description of the parameters will be given in the file. It is an easy and straightforward edit.

I’m going to test this upgrade on one node first and if it’s successful, then deploy it on the second node and update Inventory to reflect that it is a cluster installation.

So, I commented out the below parameter
